Uncle Ben’s® Consumer Affairs Recipe Collection Contest
OFFICIAL RULES 

  1. How to Enter: No Purchase Necessary. Complete and mail the My Uncle Ben’s® Rice Based Recipe Card; with your name, full address (street, city, province and postal code), and your rice-based recipe.  Submitted recipe must include Uncle Ben’s® Rice as an ingredient and no more than four (4) additional ingredients (excluding salt and pepper). The submitted recipe must have a preparation time of thirty (30) minutes or less. Recipe submission must provide a cook time, list of ingredients and directions.  Contest commences July 14, 2008, 8:00 am (EDT) and ends on October 15, 2008, 11:59 pm (EDT) (the “Contest Period”). Limit one (1) entry per household.

  2. Eligibility: Contest is only open to individual legal residents of Canada, who reside in Canada at the time of entry and who have reached the age of majority in the Province or Territory where they reside, except employees and their immediate families of Mars Canada Inc. (the “Sponsor”) and it’s agencies.

  3. PRIZES, ODDS: There are twenty (20) prizes available to be won.  Each prize consists of a gift basket containing two (2) Uncle Ben’s® Natural Select® rice, 365g or 397g (any variety), one (1) Uncle Ben’s Long Grain Perfection® (700g), one (1) Uncle Ben’s Wholegrain Perfection® Brown Rice (600g), and three (3) Uncle Ben’s® Bistro Express Rice, 240g or 250g (any variety). (Approx. Retail Value of Prize: $25.00 CAD).  Odds of being selected as a potential winner depend on the number of entries received during the Contest Period.

  4. Draw Dates:  A random draw will be conducted at 2:00 pm (EDT) on October 27, 2008 in Mississauga, Ontario from all eligible entries received during the Contest Period.  The twenty (20) selected entrants will be contacted by telephone within seven (7) days of the draw date. If the selected entrant cannot be contacted after three (3) attempts within two (2) weeks of selection, an alternate entrant will be selected.  Prior to being declared a winner and receiving a prize, the selected entrant will be required to correctly answer, unaided, a mathematical skill testing question by mail, sign and return a Declaration and Release Form, which among other things confirms his/her compliance with the Official Rules and releases the Sponsor, its affiliates, agents, including advertising and promotion agencies, and the independent judging organization, from all liability relating to the Contest and acceptance and/or use of the Prize.

    Uncle Ben’s® Recipe Collection: After the  prizes are awarded, the Sponsor will select and prepare a minimum of thirty (30) recipes of which twenty (20) recipes will be selected for inclusion in the  Uncle Ben’s® Recipe Collection. The Sponsor will have the final discretion on which twenty (20) recipes become part of the new Uncle Ben’s® Recipe Collection.  Should the Sponsor choose to use your recipe in any manner, you will be contacted, and will be asked to sign a release waiver.

  5. General:  Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, misdirected, damaged or illegible entries.  Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to cancel or modify this Contest if its integrity is compromised.  By entering the Contest, entrants agree to abide by these Official Rules and the decisions of the independent judging organization, which are final in all respects. No correspondence will be entered into except with the selected entrants and those persons whose recipes have been chosen for inclusion in the Uncle Ben’s® Recipe Collection. Prizes must be accepted as awarded and are non-transferable or convertible to cash or other substitutes except at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. The Sponsor reserves the right to substitute any component of the prize for a prize of equal or greater value.  By entering, winner consents to the use of his/her name, address (city and province) and/or photograph without further remuneration, in connection with any publicity carried out by or on behalf of the Sponsor.  All entries will become the property of Sponsor and will not be returned.

The Contest is governed by the laws of Canada, and is subject to all applicable federal, provincial and local laws, and is void where prohibited by law.

For Quebec residents: Any litigation respecting the conduct and awarding of a prize in this Promotion may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux for a ruling. Any litigation respecting the awarding of a prize may be submitted to the Régie des alcools, des courses et des jeux only for the purpose of helping the parties reach a settlement.

Privacy: All personal information collected for this Contest except personal information for use as mentioned above, will be destroyed at the end of the Contest.

To obtain the winners’ names, send a stamped address envelope to Uncle Ben’s® Consumer Affairs Recipe Collection Contest-Winners Names Request c/o Ignite Activation, 5225 Satellite Drive, Mississauga, Ontario, L4W 5P9 between November 17, 2008 – November 28, 2008.
